Sylvain Matte

Sylvain Matte holds a Bachelor of Information Management degree and an MBA from HEC Montréal. He started his career at Alcan and later developed his own consulting practice in addition to working for and in partnership with some of the larger consulting firms in Québec and Canada.

He was a lecturer from 2001 to 2020, teaching in a variety of graduate programs (MBA and M.S.) and undergraduate certificates at HEC Montreal, the University of Sherbrooke, and the University of Montreal. Over the years, he has managed projects, provided consulting services, delivered graduate studies courses, and facilitated workshops in Canada and 14 other countries on 4 continents.

He coached teams from HEC Montreal 9 times at the John Molson MBA International Case Competition and received the J. Pierre Brunet Coach Award in 2020. He served on the Coaches’ Advisory Council in 2023 and has been serving as Judges Briefer since 2024.

    Postponement of the 40th MBA ICC

    In light of the current circumstances due to COVID-19, on behalf of the MBA International Case Competition Committee (MBA ICC), we wish to inform you that the 40th edition of the John Molson School of Business' MBA ICC, originally scheduled for January 4-8, 2021, has been postponed to January 3-7, 2022.

    This decision was made after multiple rounds of careful deliberation and, though unfortunate, the postponement gives us the opportunity to revamp the infrastructure of the competition for 2022 and for the years to come. This competition has thrived thanks to your continuous contribution and presence over the years and we are eager to work with you to make our 40th anniversary a grand success.

    We shall be reaching out to you soon with pertinent information on how you can be a part of the 40th edition. Once again, we thank you for your continued support for the MBA ICC, and rest assured, we are doing our best to create a seamless and updated MBA ICC experience.
