3 January 2006 - World's first MBA case competition celebrates 25th anniversary

MONTREAL, 3 January 2006 - Let the business challenge begin! Students from around the globe are gathering in Montreal to participate in the world's first, largest and most respected MBA case competition. Concordia University will be hosting the John Molson MBA International Case Competition at the Hilton Bonaventure Hotel (900 de la Gauchetière West), from January 3 to 7, 2006.

The annual event, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, will feature 200 students from Canada to France to China & India. Teams will battle live to find the best solutions for real-life challenges faced by major companies. The exercise will allow participants to sharpen their presentation skills and showcase their business savvy – under the watchful eyes of more than 200 judges recruited from top corporations.

From classroom to boardroom
"After having studied everything from accounting to organizational behavior, MBA students from around the globe will have an opportunity to put their knowledge into real action," says Anouk Bertner, one of five student organizers of the 2006 John Molson School of Business MBA International Case Competition. "This event fosters innovation and gives students a unique opportunity to network with business executives."

Jerry Tomberlin, dean of Concordia's John Molson School of Business, notes the quarter century being celebrated by the MBA case competition is testament to its enduring vitality and enterprising spirit. "Concordia organized the first MBA case competition to prompt students to think outside the box and apply theory to everyday business models," says Tomberlin. "The roster of participants – from university teams to judges to sponsors – highlights how vital this competitive event remains in preparing tomorrow's business leaders."

The 25th John Molson MBA International Case Competition debuts with a cocktail at the Musée des Beaux Arts, featuring past and present participants, judges and sponsors at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2006.
